1. Why Connecticut?
Austin in 2013 was super-cool, but for an August venue we wanted to offer a relaxing summer vibe.
2. If my partner wants to come to the Awards Gala, do they have to pay full price for the event?
In a word. No. There will be a lower price for your partner to attend the Awards Gala.
3. By what date do I need to register? I don’t know my work schedule yet for the summer.
You can register any time you like until we are at capacity for our function rooms. We welcome last-minute additions to the event, as long as there is room. However, if you think you want to come, we STRONGLY recommend reserving a hotel or B&B room now. And we mean ASAP. This is a vacation spot and nearby hotels will fill up. The good news is you are a taxi ride away from many small Connecticut towns and 30 minutes away from Foxwoods which has many rooms!
4. If I only want to come for the Saturday workshops and dinner, do I have to pay full price?
Yes.
5. What happens if I register and then I get work and can’t come?
Well, we can’t refund your money, because we will have already spent it towards our minimum costs. However, you can transfer your registration fee to anyone who would like to come and who has not yet registered?
6. Will I get to use the beach and pool?
The beach at the hotel is only for overnight guests. However, there is a public beach nearby.
7. Will there be down-time like last year?
The feedback we received after Free-con 2013 was that the down-time wasn’t of use. People asked for more workshops, so that’s what we will provide. There will be no add-on activities and we will keep you occupied, but relaxed, the entire time.
8. What if I don’t stay at the venue?
That’s completely fine. If you stay at a nearby B&B, taxis should be available. If you stay at the New London Holiday Inn or Saybrook Inn, we will provide shuttle service at scheduled times.
